Adding and removing favorites

Application: AppMenu QML - Jun 6 2012
Question:How can I add or remove applications to the list of favorites?

Answer:You can add and remove favorites with the mouse. If the menu item is not yet in the favorites, an "Add favorite" is visible on the right side of the item. Clicking on it adds the item to the favorites. If the item is already in the favorites (this also holds for any item in the Favorites menu itself), a "Remove favorite" icon is visible. Clicking it removes the item from the Favorites list. In the Favorites menu also a "Move favorite up" and "Move favorite down" icon appear if there is more than one favorite.

You can hide the "Add favorite", "Remove favorite", "Move favorite up" and "Move favorite down" buttons by right-clicking the plasmoid and selecting "Lock favorites". You can then show the favorites management buttons again by selecting "Unlock favorites". Hiding the favorites management buttons should also make the plasmoid load faster and be faster.

If all goes well, the menu itself is focused when you open it, so you are also able to use the + and = keys to add the highlighted application to the favorites and the - key to remove the highlighted application from the favorites. You can see that the menu is focused when the search field is focused.

If, when you open the menu, the search field is not focused, then focus it by clicking in it. Then you will be able to use the keys to browse the menus, add and remove favorites. Also don't forget to submit a bug report to KDE that the popups of the plasmoids should receive focus each time they are shown.
